This function is only used in browsers that support CSS, and serves to modify the dimensions of the screen.

If you wish to, you can modify the dimensions of the screen manually:

In Explorer:   Menu View - Text Size - "Size required"
In Firefox:     Menu View - Text Size - "Option required"
